I hope to back track eventually and fill in the blanks on this. But this year, my goal for my reading project is to get out of the 1970s! So I have to keep moving forward in that endeavour. Smith's one of my favorites but his ...Hi Wanda<br /><br />Smith's one of my favorites but his uniqueness has I think meant that he left no school/influence on SF overall as it were and possibly this has hurt his reputation. <br />He is not what people are expecting. I remember the novel as okay but the short stories were wonderful, Scanners, the Rediscovery of Man, the Instrumentality of Mankind and the tales of the Underpeople wow. His Underpeople are so much more interesting than the vapid genetically engineered animals of authors who use them to create the predictable noir inspired stereotypes of private eyes, gang member, etc. But maybe that's just me.<br /><br />GuyGuyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12546069846136464138noreply@blogger.com
