I liked the second book more, perhaps because I've become a bit more comfortable in their world. Working on book 3 right now, hoping not to have to renew the 3 book volume again!Wandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12731311054637831837noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4126862445245993591.post-9109382981652726632015-08-18T19:21:50.864-06:002015-08-18T19:21:50.864-06:00Hi Wanda

I believe I first read it as a trilogy but then it expanded. I would stick with the three if you continue. Book one The Bad Company was in my mind the strongest because it was as you say so different from other fantasies. Mercenaries that kill their employer to break contract, where is the honour among thieves that is a staple of fantasy. Also I loved the villains, most fantasy baddies are cutouts all powerful but boring, these wizards have limits to their powers, are not all that bright and spend as much time fighting each other as obeying orders. And they are such a has been bunch, just as the Bad Company they have mostly been reduced to one name shadows of their former selves, howler, limper hanged man, okay two words but really interesting characters. Also it is an interesting comment on war, no good only shades of bad, and vary basic sets of values.

All the best.
GuyGuyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12546069846136464138noreply@blogger.com
